Share Your Heart, Share the World! with Naomi Shihab Nye

A wonderful day with Naomi! 50 students from Franklin, Addison, and Washington counties attended a school day writing intensive at Shelburne Farms that included small group poetry workshops with Vermont teachers and poets, a master class with award-winning poet, Naomi Shihab Nye, and an afternoon reading from participants. The event culminated in an evening reading by Shihab Nye that was open to the public.

Book Launch Celebration!

A celebration of Neil Shepard’s latest release: Vermont Exit Ramps, II, published by Green Writers Press in collaboration with Sundog Poetry Center, Inc.! Guests listened to Neil read selections from his latest work, purchased autographed copies of the book, and relaxed with wine and hors d’oeuvres!

Nature Poetry Camp for Kids

A unique poetry camp that focuses on the nature around us in Vermont. Walk the nature trails, explore the woods, observe the wetland birds and animals from the lookout platform, learn the names of the sheep, and take refuge in our small yurt if the weather is not agreeable. Read and write poetry and make your own journals under the guidance of a Master’s level teacher with 19 years experience.

Sundog Poetry Center and River Arts are pleased to announce Vermont’s newest literary event, The Craft of Small Publishing in Vermont: a celebration of Vermont book publishers. This free one-day event will be held on Sunday, June 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the River Arts Center in Morrisville. To kick off the summer reading season, The Craft of Small Publishing in Vermont is offering activities for all ages including: a Vermont publisher panel, presentations by Vermont book artists, a curator-led activities for all ages including: a Vermont publisher panel, presentations by Vermont book artists, a curator-led introduction to treasures from the University of Vermont’s special collections, a hands-on bookmaking workshop, story times for children and a day-log book fair teeming with titles by Vermont publishers including (so far) Chickadee Chaps & Broads, Fomite Press, Green Writers Press, Honeybee Press, Sundog Poetry Center, Plowboy Press, Radiant Hen Publishing, and Windridge Books, as well as some of Vermont’s independent publishers.
