Meet Our New Managing Director
Sundog Poetry is excited to announce that Katie Moritz is its new managing director.
Katie Moritz, Managing Director, Sundog Poetry
Katie has over a decade of experience in writing and communication. Prior to serving as the Communication Liaison at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, she was editor of a weekly newspaper, manager of an assisted living facility, and educator for at-risk youth at a charter school in northern NH as well as for first-generation students at Dartmouth College. While pursuing a master’s degree in writing and literature at Dartmouth College, she founded (and served as editor-in-chief) a graduate student journal now known as Clamantis.
“I cannot fully express how excited I am to step into this role,” Katie says. “It allows me to align my passion for poetry with my commitment to community.”
Katie says that Bukowski better illustrates how she feels heading into Sundog:
“there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.”
“The Laughing Heart” by Charles Bukowski
Katie grew up in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, and lives in Newbury, Vermont with her husband, five-year-old son, rescue dog and a toothless cat. A published poet and writer, her fiction work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She is currently working on her first book of poetry.
